I sold a piece at the memphis women's exchange on racine

I let the women's exchange of memphis select one of my art pieces to display in their
shop to sale. The Director was not too sure that it would sell since they have not sold
art pieces before. Most of the items for sale are children's handmade clothing, craft
items, Christmas decorators, more crafts than art.
I gave this piece to sale last November 2007. I was just thinking of picking up this piece
because it had not sold. Last week I got a check for my share of the selling price for this
piece. I SOLD it to my surprise. It took 6 months but it sold!

I showed several pieces to a gallery curator at a local gallery at cooper and peabody in mid
town Memphis. She gave me advice to put the same thing I put on wood onto canvas.
Wood implies more craft. Canvas is more art. figure that! She told me that collectors look
at something on canvas as a piece of art work.

I have ventured into doing my crosses on burlap fabric. I can expand onto canvas.
